Exactly, I totally agree. My family is the same way, they don't really want to know how anyone is doing. It is similar to an interaction between two strangers or even acquaintances where they will ask how you are out of politeness but they really don't want to know if you're upset or something. At most, they only want to know the good stuff. I'm actually more okay with telling them the good stuff but even then I don't divulge too much.
