Animals sense insecurity or fear in people. Horses especially. I have handled abused stallions & when I walked into the stall of one of them he have me a horsey kiss. It was instant bonding. Even my wild raccoons can sense I have no fear of them & they come right up to me for their food. In the case of animals I think they respond to someone insecure in a negative way because they are uncertain how that insecure or fearful person will react.
I saw & experienced how my mom & dad's insecurities negatively effected my childhood & it was not pleasant to be around. We always think of how we are being treated because of what we are like but hardly ever think of how we are like effects others especially if it is in a negative way. Doesn't mean it is hate.....but it can mean they just don't enjoy being around that personality or it makes them feel uncomfortable
