Have you tried removing yourself from the people who seem to make you feel like you need to be this way?
I found when I left the environment that caused me so much pain, I was finally able to develop who I really am. Realized after leaving my past didn't follow me so I knew it wasn't me but my environment & good therapy proved that to be true.
