It's always better to give your psychiatrist more information than less. He's in the best position to explore with you whether your belief is a delusion or an actually possible event. Having a delusion isn't necessarily a one way ticket to in-patient treatment. There are a wide range of treatments you and him can discuss. You can't have the discussion, however, if you don't tell him.
