Well you choose the 8 hour window you will eat. It's surprisingly easy to follow. You can drink water, tea, coffee, after the 8 hour window but you just can't eat any food. It's super healthy.
My doctor is the one who suggested it to me, or I wouldn't have known it existed. And if a doctor suggests it, you know it has the potential of being safe. Not always b/c not all doctors are "good" doctors. But I trust my doctor and I tried it and it worked.
It was easy for me not to overeat at night, b/c anytime I have done that, I get terrible indigestion and have to drink Pepto Bismol every 2 hours to quell the symptoms. So, not having indigestion at night, was a total motivator for me to just eat within an 8 hour window.
Plus, I would walk at night after dinner to decrease my anxiety of living alone, and then would take a bath after that, so by the time my bath was over, I was ready for bed and didn't eat anything. I gave up some really terrible eating habits too.
