Lemoncake, you're such a thoughtful person. You deserved a better dad. My sister had an aunt read to her when she was young because our parents never read to us or played with us. I'm envious because that aunt never liked me since I was really young and no one read to me.
SlumberKitty, hugs if wanted. Tbh I could only stop SH for long periods after I had other coping mechanisms and had addressed some of the underlying reasons why I SHed.

Aww thank you. T has said the same thing which was a
moment. I'm sorry you get it too. He gave me a copy of my therapy notes and from the first session wrote down: physical and emotional abuse. It just feels like having a huge gaping hole of need. The hardest thing for me was just finally understanding the way I acted as a child. I also had an aunt whose favourite I was up until I was 9 years old then in a way she leave me and I didn't see her again until I was 13/14.
I find it very hard to talk about sex stuff with T too. There's still a lot of shame there but my opinion of
it has changed because of him.I went from it's okay to be degraded to heck no for loving couples only I've always emailed stuff and told him not to reply back.
I think for the PAP smear it's okay to go at a pace your comfortable with. Do you think you'd feel a bit more comfortable with a female doctor? Some places have photos of their offices online- so you'd know what to expect.
In the UK there's a professional body for all sex therapists, maybe you have something similar?
This might sound dumb but maybe a book by a T would be a good place to start to explain what they actually do so you feel more comfortable.
