I think it's extra sad when the dog dies because we see them as innocent, and they are often dependent on us.

It helps to remember that dogs just live in the moment, and as long as they die relatively easily, they won't have suffered much. Plus, they're carnivores, so they live mostly by eating other animals. These thoughts help to settle my emotions.
