Hello madlou: I see that, although you're a 5 year member, this is your first post. So... welcome to active participation here on PC.

Here are links to 4 articles, from Psych Central's archives, on the subject of Alexithymia:

Alexithymia: A Personality Trait | The Exhausted Woman

Do You Have Alexithymia?

Alexithymia: The Cause and The Solution

Alexithymia: Emotional Disconnect Challenges Marriages

In the third article I've linked you to, the author talks about her observation that many of the people she has worked with who had Alexithymia seemed to have struggled with what is referred to as Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN). There's a forum, here on PC, dedicated to the subject of CEN. Here's a link:

https://psychcentralforums.com/child...ional-neglect/

And then here are links to 2 articles, also from PC's archives, on that subject as well:

https://psychcentral.com/blog/childh...he-fatal-flaw/

https://blogs.psychcentral.com/child...ional-neglect/

I hope you find PC to be of benefit.
