I have most often had psychosis during manias, especially manias with mixed features. I remember a little bit of that time. Other details were lost. Some minor details were shared with me. I read a little in hospital records, but many records are vague. Some were clearly traumatic, which likely contributed to the amnesia.

I can't relate when people write that they are "currently" psychotic. I can relate to some insight when psychosis comes and goes within short periods, but not while it's happening.
Very interesting. I am also usually psychotic and manic at the same time, it seems. But I definitely do not lose my memory function, certainly not all of it, when I am psychotic. I have been psychotic so many times that I am now most often aware when my judgment is slipping and I am losing my grip on reality. I am definitely aware, but that does not make it any easier to deal with and it does not stop it from happening. Being aware on some level that something bad is happeneing does not stop those bad things from happening, sadly.
