This post was first done in November. Things have mellowed out. Money is still tighter than tight (we're lucky if we can pay all our bills). My parents are wonderful. They help us out with bills when we need them too, as well as puchasing groceries for us. Since we live next door to them (did I mention they own our home and allow us to live here rent free) we also cook meals and eat together.
We are very lucky. Right now, things are ok. They're not great...but they could be worse! The best advice we got from a medical biller was to pay $5 a month on a bill until we got approved for free medical care so that the bill wouldn't go to collections. Every month I send out about 3 checks like that.
