Yesterday, I burned my thumb on the heating element in my toaster oven. It didn't even hurt. I knew my thumb touched it, but only when I looked at it did I see a sear mark. It kind of concerns me how/why I feel less pain from injuries than I likely should. I know many here would like to throw a pie in my face for saying this, but it is a concern. I burn and bruise myself a lot. I'm not saying I have never felt pain, but even when I have had severe migraines, the nausea/vomiting was far worse than my head pain. On my way to the dining room, holding the small quiche that was in the mentioned toaster oven, I dropped it and it landed top down on the dining room floor. It wasn't because of heat, but carelessness. I often lose hold of things, dropping dishes/glasses, knocking things over, etc. I blame my Tegretol for that, and also wonder if it contributes to my high pain threshold. I found journal articles online that suggest that it might.

Sometimes my most satisfying and healthful meals are plates full of lots of little things. They usually come out like little rainbow plates that make me happy to look at while I eat them. Typically, I don't cook any of it which is a bonus. My go to plates include various veggies, berries, other fruits, pepperocini or olives, bits of turkey or other lean meat, hummus or something to dip in, nuts, cheese, whole grain crackers and sometimes dark chocolate squares.
Sorry about your burn. I hear you about the concern. I like to pay attention to abnormalities even if they seem beneficial.
I hope you enjoy your quiet evening!
