Since then I’ve been eating what I want, how I want. This is not to say I’ve been eating junk or bingeing. I only eat three meals a day, and lunch and breakfast are relatively small. After dinner I do not snack, mainly because I don’t feel like I need to. I might have a cookie or two but I don’t overindulge. I am not counting calories or carbs or in any way tracking what I am eating. I am just enjoying being in my body and eating what it tells me to eat. It is glorious.

So back to prolactin and weight gain. In all the time I was dieting (low carb and/or restricting calories) I struggled to lose every pound. The most I lost was five pounds and the next week would see that I gained back two, despite eating exactly the same. It was so frustrating, part of the reason I said **** this and focused on accepting my body for what it is. Well, just for funsies today I decided to weigh myself. Folks, I have lost seven pounds! Now I know for sure that the prolactin was causing me to gain weight. The reason I gained so much weight in the first place (an astonishing eighty pounds in a year - a YEAR people) was because my prolactin was out of control thanks to invega.

That said, I am still forging ahead with intuitive eating. It has worked for me and made me much happier than I’ve been since I was a child about my body. I started thinking I was fat in fifth grade and it never left my mind from there. Now thanks to the body positive movement I am becoming comfortable in my own fat skin.

That is not to say that losing weight for many will help with problems like high cholesterol, high blood sugar, etc. But according to my recent bloodwork, I am quite healthy. So this works for me.

I do hope everyone here who is losing weight for health reasons or just to feel better or get fitter etc is successful in their journey!
Congrats! It's not always easy to identify contributing factors.
I hope this realization continues to serve you well!
