Hullo, campers. Just for those of you who may be worndering why I've gone walkabout from PC over the next few days: I suffered injuries in a serious auto accident last night while visiting my parents in New Jersey. I was driving my mom's Honda Civic to pick up some last-minute groceries for her. I came off of I-287 and was sitting on an exit ramp (I had the "yield sign) waiting for the last of a row of cars to pass so I could make a right turn. Without warning, a huge Mercedes 220 came barreling up the ramp behind me and slammed into the back of my car at about 50 miles per hour. This was at about 6:30 p.m. The entire rear section of the Honda was destroyed. I suffered whiplash and a severe concussion. We are still waiting on the final reading of the x-ray results to ensure there are no microfractures to my spine. My brain literally ricocheted off the inside front of my skull, then struck the back, then struck the front again before settling down. The doctor had a technical name for this, but I can’t remember what it is. I blacked out briefly, and eventually I was extracted from the remains of the car and taken to a hospital ER. I was released this morning, but spent most of the time between the wreck and my release strapped to a body board to stabilize my head and neck and spinal injuries -- about 8 hours in all. I had a multiple cat scans and x-rays. This morning, I had to go see my internist for an emergency appointment. I am on very powerful pain killers and a muscle relaxant, and therefore spent most of the day drifting into and out of consciousness. I sincerely you all have a MUCH better weekend and Valentine's Day than I anticipate. Ta. Cheshire Cat
