It is the unit at whatever state hospital or equivalent facility your state has that houses the most dangerous psychiatric patients. Murderers, serial killers, violent rapists, kidnappers, etc. Just to be clear, I was sent there for an Adderall relapse. I don't have a dangerous bone in my body. True story. Absolutely crazy system my state has. It is a very long story how someone like me, with zero criminal history other than a car crash I had when I was psychotic, could end up in a place like that for a very long time, indeed.
Anyway, Oregon is a bit different than lots of other states in that we still have a gigantic state hospital here that is completely full at all times. We actually have two that are completely full at all times.
