I hear you!
I have asthma and I MUST use humidifiers in the house. I have a few of them, depending upon the size of the room and how much humidity I need in each room. i even have a small one on my desk.
There are so many sizes, features, prices now.
My niece has a humidifier at work which sits on her desk right near her and she plugs it into her USB.
I was so very happy to see pdoc has put a humidifier in her office! It helps so much with dry heat and I have read it helps hardwood floors, too.
I have learned, long ago, to get the ultrasonic cool misting type.
The warm mist is great if someone has a cold or the flu etc, However, it can cause a lot of condensation on windows, which can become a problem.
I cannot believe how reasonable the prices!
Some brands have made their plastic containers interwoven with threads of silver as a way to decrease bacteria in the tank, etc. Many have colored lights and a place to put essential oils, of wanted.
I just do the simple ultrasonic mist and have bought types which need no filters.
Excuse my rambling on humidifiers. They make my life so much better!

I hope things are looking up for you!
