So this subject gets me all fired up and I am glad its not just me that feels this way. Being an alcoholic in recovery its hard for me to differentiate between my hang ups with alcohol and society and the actual overabundance of alcohol and activities in society. The whole "mommy wine" thing seems to have exploded in the last 4 years or so. Thank god it wasnt much of a thing when I got sober. You can go to work-out classes where they have mimosas's as a reward, book clubs for moms with wine- and just about any other mom social group or event can have "with wine" slapped on the end of it and nobody blinks an eye. Since when did raising children become equated with needing to get drunk, or at least tipsy to survive? I know its a hard job to be a mom, I am one of three and my life has been upside down recently but when did it become ok for women to admit they need to unwind all the time with wine? I try not to be the alcohol police because I am aware that I am the one with the problem and everyone is not like me but its really annoying to read about groups and gatherings for moms that involve some innocuous activity with wine. Playgroups and moms with wine, art classes with wine, clubs with wine. Mommy cups that are giant wine glasses, oversized wine glasses that hold three glasses in one glass- there was even an ad around me for a moms with toddlers hayride trip with a wine garden. Seriously? And to go off on a humorous tangent....
WHY are the alcohol companies hijacking my seltzer? Seltzer water has been my go-to since I got sober and the last two years its exploded. In the last like 6 months I have seen a surge in commercials for hard seltzers. Now its not just beer, wine spirits and hard teas- MY seltzer has been taken prisoner by Big Alcohol and sacrificed to the masses as a way to get FUBAR! Seltzer used to be dirt cheap but then La Croix took over followed by bubly and a million others. Its not so cheap anymore.
I read an article two weeks ago that they are making a hard coffee. WHAATT?! NOW my coffee is being ruined??? AHHHHHH!
