Thanks AG and mortimer.
This post was first done in November. Things have mellowed out. Money is still tighter than tight (we're lucky if we can pay all our bills). My parents are wonderful. They help us out with bills when we need them too, as well as puchasing groceries for us. Since we live next door to them (did I mention they own our home and allow us to live here rent free) we also cook meals and eat together.
We are very lucky. Right now, things are ok. They're not great...but they could be worse! The best advice we got from a medical biller was to pay $5 a month on a bill until we got approved for free medical care so that the bill wouldn't go to collections. Every month I send out about 3 checks like that.
Thanks for caring enough to post! Things are ok here, thank goodness!

I didn't check the date either. It was at the top of the page so I put my 2 cents worth in.

I'm glad that you have such a wonderful family to help you out. That is very good advice to pay $5.00 each month. I was told the same thing when I was where you found yourself. That way it shows them that you do intend to pay them. Skipping payments is not a good thing in the creditor's minds. Paying at least something goes a lot further. I hope things continue to get better for you. I certainly remember the days of skyrocket bills with no money to pay them. All those creditor phone calls and collection agencies. YIKES!!! It got so bad that I stopped answering the phone. I was a total nervous wreck.
