I try talking to myself as if I am a good friend. For example, say my friend makes a mistake. I don't respond, "You loser! You always do things like this. You are worthless," etc. But we often say those types of things to ourselves. Try to catch yourself when you say them and practice more positive self talk. It's not easy and takes practice, but it can be done.
