One of my friends had tinnitus for most of her life. She is in her early 60's now. The most recent specialist she saw thought the problem was caused by an overly dry environment in the ear. She start drops recommended by the specialist and it has cleared up the problem. So far so good and it has been over a year. She had other issues going on (major stress, thyroid & something to do with her urinary tract).
I hope you find some relief.
