I am in the school's jazz band, so its a small class. maybe a dozen kids and my director is a savage. I'm not sure what led to this but I have seen him pursue kids with a yardstick and I am pretty certain he has actually hit a few people, most of it was his laughing at them genuinely running getting scared.. it was all in good fun tho so it doesn't leave the band hall.
