To what extent was this an issue of "not liking to work hard" versus recognizing you did not have the "right" traits required for "success" in the real world of psychiatry as practiced?
Behind my question above is a personal awareness that upward progress in certain professions requires a high degree of psychological comfort with aggressive self-promotion.
