Sadly many people either hate math or feel incompetent simply because they weren’t taught properly by a proper teacher/professor or are scared of math for life for those same reasons.

Yep. I had a teacher in elementary/middle school who had severe patience and I think even anger problems and threatened to send me to the principal's office just because I wasn't understanding math. That made me afraid to ask for help, especially from him. I wanted to tell another teacher but since I was a lot younger, I didn't think I would be believed which most likely I wouldn't have.
