I was taught self-hypnosis by a cognitive therapist and it helped me, but I have never sought the help of professional ethical hypnotists. My father once rented offices to those who practiced ethical hypnosis but that is all I know about it. Hopefully those with first-hand experience of hypnosis will see and respond to your post.
