I've been wondering how soon before it is all outside of my door.

Well, it is here.
There is an outbreak in my town. Two in my town have perished. Our state count is higher.
The National Guard has been called up and are now on active duty.

Many large temporary medical units have been set up throughout the state.
A hotel near the university hospital is holding/treating many ill people, the idea being if anyone needs a ventilator, they will be right next to the hospital for easy transport to the ICU.
