I have spent the last year in thought of those individuals you are talking about, being in an intern therapist in an acute care psychiatric hospital. Most of the the types of individuals you speak of are not even aware that the have an illness-- so the best that I can do-- and that other therapists and professionals can do is help them to feel like people again-- and allow them to begin to appreciate and understand the unique qualities of themselves.
