I'm a reclusive person myself. So making friends isn't exactly my long suit, so to speak. My wife has a few acquaintances (not really friends I would say.) My impression is that what you are experiencing is pretty-much the way things are nowadays. Perhaps your husband's friendships developed before things became the way they are now? I don't know.
