I've been watching here a while. Just reading and watching. I'm not a mod here, not admin, just someone who watches.
I think. . .and this is just my humble opinion. . .that our invididual spiritual beliefs play a HUGE part in our healing. I also think, that when we challenge one another's belief systems, we very pointedly challenge their healing. People take that personally. People respond in anger. It's human nature.
Spiritual beliefs are a very deeply imbedded part of who we are as people. For those of us who are Christians, we believe we are in fact, "God breathed." That helps me get through the day sometimes, and has in fact, stopped suicide ideation on my part, b/c I couldn't bring myself to destroy something that God had created. But. . .there are those who don't believe as we do, and the differences in believe should not somehow minimize their healing OR the journey to that healing.
I can't speak of other religions or spiritual beliefs, but I can tell you what I believe about Christianity. The heart of Jesus was and has been to engage and create relationship among us. The mission was never to divide and conquer, or cause separation. Ghandi had a similar philosophy. I'm prety sure Budda did as well.
Mother Teresa said, "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other."
I think she was a wise woman. We all pertain to one another - regardless of what t shirt it is you're wearing, or what sermon you're preaching. This isn't the place for sermons anyway, this is the place to put into practice what you've learned from those sermons. This is not the place to "convert" people and add to your score. This is the place to belong - one to another - in all of our pain and especially in our differences.
My suggestion would be that perhaps this form needs to be further divided since people can't seem to get along, and we're already getting into the "I just won't come back" game over here. Perhaps DocJohn can create a sub form for Christians, another for Buddists. Maybe we should go further and divide Christianity into Baptists, pentecostals and Catholics, b/c you know until we break it down even further, people are going to argue and fuss.
Or maybe. . .just maybe. . .we could appreciate the OP's originaly post. If we don't agree. . .troll for something else to respond to. If you can be supportive without being antagonistic, then do so. But don't let this place, this forum become a courtroom to aruge your differences.
I've said my piece.
