I've been home all day- what's new? I didn't get gas, go to the bank, or take N3 to work. Just been sitting here listening to music and writing a million emails - with references- to my pen pal. He said he found them fascinating! He hasn't replied to my latest set, but it may be a few days. I am researching the history of audio recording and sent him a Youtube video of a 1924 recording.
I wanted to know what medium it was likely recorded on so I researched things - one was wikipedia, but another was this awesome article on the history of audio recording/playback. I hope he likes the recording and I hope I haven't sent it to him in the past- there aren't too many old recordings of the Sistine Chapel choir in the world. They just did a professional recording 5 years ago! In the chapel that is. Other recordings are of the choir- including the "last castrato" in 1902/1904 (which were on wax cylinders)- were not done in the chapel, but in the salon or other rooms. It seems that the 1924 recording was JUST before the Electrical Era of recording (started in 1925) so it was likely recorded on a 78 record!
