I've been to PHP( partial hospital program) and IOP ( intensive outpatient program. The PHP picked me up at home and drove me, they started with a check in group. Then there were several different groups with a lunch break. They provided lunch. The groups varied by day but everyday there was group therapy. On different days there was art therapy, recreational therapy, occupational therapy. Meetings with one to one therapist and a once a week meeting with a pdoc.
The IOP was less often 2-3 days a week. The main focus was group therapy. And some IOP's were in the evenings.
I found it extremely helpful. Sometimes there's a person who tries to hog the time but they don't usually last too long so don't worry about that. The programs make sure everybody gets their needs met.
