Actually, with translation, you can make a fair amount if you get regular work.

I looked at a site that I'm a member of for freelancing and it says that the minimum that people charge for Japanese to English translations is $0.09 USD per word. The standard (or going rate) is $0.12 USD per word. That means for a fairly short document (say 1000 words), you would be likely to make $120 or somewhere around that. I don't know how long it takes you to translate documents, so it could vary based on that, but it could be well-paying if you're interested in it.
