I think identifying or first knowing how to identify the feelings is a very beneficial solution or idea to this... maybe it's easier to allow it if it's easier to understand what is going on... maybe it would feel less like an attack or less traumatic or overwhelming if it had more 'visibility.' Perhaps then it could be accepted easier and it could run its course? Easier said than done, but worth a try..
