I recently read this article
Emotional Eating: Why Are You Doing It and How Do You Stop? - Dr. Axe and it really helped me to understand what emotional eating is. I was able to recognize that I emotionally eat and have done so since childhood. Pete Walker addresses emotional eating briefly in his book Surviving to Thriving, I believe. I never took the time to read up on how emotional eating was defined. Once I read this it was clear for me to see.
(Sigh) I've been having a real rough time lately so it's been helpful to have some definitions so I can identify what's going on. Sadly, I've gained some weight (as I've been using food to cope), but I'm still at a relatively healthy weight. I'm hoping to at least gain enough control to NOT gain more weight even if I'm not ready to tackle everything surrounding my emotional eating or to start exercising. I better get a lot of fruit on hand instead of cakes and ice cream. Maybe that will trick my sweet tooth lol Eh. Thanks for reading.
