I think:

1. People will rethink living so closely dense to each other. In my city I am always stunned when they choose to build housing right on top of people. I hope people will start rethinking that and demanding money be put into better roads and public transport. Public transport is always packing us in like sardines.

2. I have been driving into work all week and I am amazed at the roads. It is like it should be. 20 minute drive to work instead of 1 hour. I feel kind of jipped that I don't get this every day. I should get this every day. Why don't we have seriously staggered work hours and more people working from home? Why?

3. My managers were always fighting us working from home and wouldn't give us it. Unfortunately... now we all have it plus we got this thing "Zoom" which is amazing (video conference meetings from anyplace). There has always been a preference for "in person" but I think going forward that is going to be cut back. When this is all over I am going to propose to my boss that we have one day per week we designate from home. How can he argue against it?

4. I do think that entry to this country will be re thought in much the way the TSA was put into effect after 911. We just have to start being more careful and the smartest way is at the point of entry.

5. I do think China is going to take a hit. When the every day person is annoyed with you, you're in trouble.

6. Stock market, well truly the stock market has shown itself now to be unreliable. So many people I know who were set up for retirement just weeks ago will now have to work longer to recover from the stock market disaster. I don't think the country can ever put large amounts of retirement money in there.

7. I think people will embrace the "prepper" lifestyle a bit more. Thankfully I had done it a little earlier but a lot of people now see how the supply line can really shrink up. It is good to have 2 months stock on hand.

8. I think masks might be a much bigger deal. I predict products like gloves that look normal but save you from germs.

Ultimately though thinking back on it... almost every shock to the system in my lifetime has resulted in very little change in the end. Often things just get back to normal within a year.

What do you think?
I agree with a lot of this. I am sure people are being more meticulous about washing their hands. I am wearing a mask when I go to the store and I have thought to myself--this must feel a little bit like how it feels to wear a berka. It feels the opposite of carefree and free but I am still doing it. After aids, people started feeling like they had to be more careful about sex, now we have the same feeling about hugging and shaking hands. I feel bad that people in high school, college and their early 20s are under these restrictions.

I stay home anyways now but have been cutting my own hair, am going to color it myself (I will save $$$) and my H been having success planting and growing all kinds of vegetables and herbs.
