My "little one" is 24 and about to head over to Iraq. He's home visiting on leave. Wish I could write a note excusing him from war.

I still remember clearly those precious moments I had with my son. Seems like just yesterday sometimes. I'm glad you have such a strong bond with your son. He's a good reason to fight your way out of depression when it becomes overwhelming.
One thing I noticed while raising my son. Every stage of his life had an amazing time that brings back happy memories. Each stage also carried a challenge in parenting, many headaches and sleepless nights. The good part is that none of these stages ever last very long....they just change as your kid gets older. You can gather a variety of amazingly good memories. As for the bad, if you both can make it through without any harm, you can look back and laugh at the memory.
