I recently started on low dosages of Clonazepam as well as Trazadone for sleep after having been off psych meds for several years. Prior to starting these I seldom remembered my dreams. But since starting on these med's I've noticed I am having more vivid dreams & I'm remembering them more.

The other time in my life when I had vivid dreams was following some surgery I underwent quite a few years ago now. While I was in the hospital I had a morphine pump. And after I was back home, & off of the morphine, I had some very vivid dreams one of which involved being stung repeatedly by a swarm of bees... and, yes, I felt each & every sting! So for me, at least, vivid dreams seem to be related to medications I'm either taking or that I've stopped taking.
