I always like telling the story of how I almost got hit by a train in Indiana. I was on the eastbound side of the tracks and a 3-4 miler was on its way through. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, the train finally passed and I put my head down to run across. A westbound train was coming off the tail of the eastbound train, the conductor STOMPING on his horn. I came to a dead stop and froze, probably 10 feet from the westbound tracks. I still remember it clearly to this day. I never picked my head up, never really saw the westbound train until I moved 30 seconds later. I honestly think the engineer never forgot it either......probably the closest I've been to getting killed.
