I just wanted to write some positive things about DID and some things that I'm thankful for, because so often, all I can see is the negative.
• I'm so thankful that while I might not remember what I do during my days and while I sometimes lose days and weeks, this brain is about survival and does what it needs to do to continue on.
• I'm thankful that my brain was intelligent enough to be able to do what it needed to do, to cope with the things that went on for me as a child so that I did not die or go crazy.
• I'm thankful that my children had a mom who was able to understand and support them without judgment or condemnation.
• I'm thankful that because of DID, I did not become like them and that my brain split because I was
not like them.
• I'm thankful that I am getting stronger.
• I'm even kind of thankful that while there are a lot of painful things I have gone through and have yet to process, that each step brings me closer to better understanding and coping with today.
• I'm thankful that while I may
feel crazy, I am not crazy.
• I'm thankful that DID makes things make sense for me.
Can you add something positive about your dissociation (not just DID, but all dissociative disorders)?
