Psychiatrist is usually 30 minutes. As to how helpful that is... it really depends on how much is going on.
When there is more to say, I find myself inadvertently going into like a very organised almost business-meeting mode. I'll say this is going on and that is going on, sort of like getting down to business and unless I'm really in a rut, sort of miss the emotional mark and not really go into depth about how I feel and how these things are effecting me.
Therapy is usually an hour, so I find that to be mostly enough to dig a little deeper and be more detailed about what is going on, which includes the emotional side of it.
