Although I cannot speak for anyone else, I personally find meaning in helping others, not only my fellow human beings, but even animals. I live in a desert, and there are always some creatures that could use a drink of water or some food, even the ants. When I help anybody I feel somehow at one with the universe. It is very hard to put into words.
And there always seems to be some creature that is in trouble. Today I saw a spider stuck in a puddle of water and so I helped him get back on dry land. And there was a butterfly that had gotten itself tangled up in a plant and I was able to free it. A famous philosopher once said that human beings could bear anything if they had a reason to exist.
Anyway, that is what gives my life purpose. Hopefully many people here on the Forums will share their ideas. I think that even asking questions, like yours is very heroic. I wish you only the best!
Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

1) Like you dedicate your life to others... you live for others....
2) You got to learn to live for yourself too
I learnt this the hard way.... I learnt not to be suicidal but to love myself even if I don't have a purpose in life.... just to hang in there.... even if there is no motivation.... with the hope that this too shall pass.... what is life but a struggle for existence... and the fittest survive....
