Oh gosh everyone Thank you SO much for all this support, I cant tell you how much it means

Had a 30 minute conversation with his Hospital Doctor today

So Steve is now Diabetic, they have had to give him insulin to bring his blood sugar down. The did a AIC and over the last 90 days been elevated not horrible but considering the infections, antibiotics and prednisone they were slightly above normal but nothing of big concern. They did a CT of chest there is no pnuemonia, No masses just the evidence of his copd,

The doctor didnt hear wheezing, But started him on prednisone just incase this is a big copd flare as he normally is on
2lts O2 but they had to put him up to 4 lts last night to get him to 90 sat.

So the Doctor feels that he should do well on a oral diabetic medication and we will need to get an appt with endocrinologist for treatment He also wants him to see a Pulmonary specialist which I told him we already have one for the 22nd. He was thrilled to hear that.

The Doctor was very concerned about his mental status, Steve was aware he was in the hospital but not the day or even the month, He wasnt able to explain this ongoing infection, Or what meds he had been on today even with being more stable. So I explained to the Doctor about his 20% brain volume loss and we are seeing a neurologist about it so that answered alot of questions as for Steve's cognitive issues for the Doctor.

He does have the bacteria in his system, but his white blood cell counts are normal. So the Doctors thoughts are when he first got sick almost 8 weeks ago and had been bitten by a tick that showed bullseye pattern with out a doubt that his body reacted by increasing blood sugar and just a massive reaction from the bite, He was tested for Lymes and it was negative, thankfully, so along with the very strong antibiotics was a perfect storm for his blood sugar to blast way up in the last week and cause the extreme weakness, falling, shaking and even more cognitive issues especially yesterday. I didnt think to check blood sugar until yesterday as he had no symptoms of diabetes. But him a total mess yesterday prompted me to check it, thankfully.

Not sure when they will release him, They want to see how he does tonight and tomorrow. He is now able to get up and go to the bathroom etc, He is being careful.. We will then follow up with our Doctor and get him in with specialists so we can start to get things under control. This is going to take time to get Steve back on his feet and really feeling better. But finally there is hope.

Now I am going to go nibble numerous Xanax and try to relax, something that I cant remember the last time I was able to do..

I just want to say again a huge THANK YOU for all the prayers , good wishes and support...

You have all helped me in a great time of need
