I can't rely on Xanax or any benzodiazepines. I have to use techniques from CBT and DBT. One thing I found helpful lately is that I will grab a coloring book and my bag of colored pencils, or I will get out my thumb piano and tinker with that. Both are great distractions for me when I feel anxious. Helps me refocus.
