One of the main reasons I mention my location is so that if I express an opinion on a certain subject on a mostly American website such as this one (I can see there are a lot of members here from the UK, as well) then the person should see I'm from New Zealand and won't fire back at me saying "Oh, typical Dem" or "Typical Repub", especially during American election times. Plus I like other people to know a little bit about me. Helps to fill in the blanks a bit, I think.
