I agree! My daughter always avoided the sun. Always. If she absolutely had to be in the sun she would cover herself up. It's true that she does have gorgeous skin, flawless. But...

a few years ago, she told me that she was feeling very unwell. Terribly low energy, nausea, and her hair, which is extremely thick, was falling out. She was concerned and so was I. Well, she went to her GP and the doctor tested her for this and that. Eventually my daughter found out that her vitamin D level was so low that her GP was considering hospitalizing her.

N. was prescribed a large daily dose of vitamin D and instructed to sit in the sun every day at 10 a.m., for 10 minutes. She followed the instructions and her health improved within a month.

I was a '70's sun worshiper, burned and tanned all summer, every summer. That worries me, now. But I believe there's a happy medium. Never exposing ourselves to the sun cannot possibly be healthy.
