Yes, the arts and sciences are woefully underfunded in the US. I personally became much happier in high school after I quit all sports and focused on my guitar and school. All my sports friends were angry because I was a pretty good athlete, but it was a much better situation for me. Now, I am a writer, mostly novels, and it gives me much enjoyment. But I do still enjoy watching sports. Sorry.
