It was....the Madeline’s are kinda pricey so I only have them on occasion......but I understand because they’re actually a bit of a pain to make, have to chill the batter before baking. I made some once from a Williams Sonoma mix, thinking how hard could a mix be but it was so time consuming. But I had these really cute pans that were part heart, part Madeline for Valentine’s Day....omg that was over four years ago....was still with the ex-bf. Current bf just likes bread pudding...without much fuss. We had extra bananas once so I made a banana one and he was all wish it would’ve had raisins so....there’s a great apple bread pudding from dorie Greenspan he wants nothing to do with either. The most adventurous we’ve done is the pirates bread pudding which has pineapple, raisins and pecans.

Oh but I learned the secret to the Salvadoran bread pudding he raves about....aside from the awesome French bread they have, they actually blend the bread rather than leaving it in chunks! Still haven’t tried it yet though.
