When Marco Andretti was born into a long legacy of racecar drivers, naturally he grew up with an affinity for driving. It has been said that at one point, a teacher told his dad, Michael, that "He might be able to make it on ovals, but would never pass as a road course driver."
Marco went on to win at Infineon Raceway in 2006, becoming the youngest winner of a major open-wheel race (at 19 years old).
Marco Andretti also finished 2nd in the 2006 Indy 500. It was the 2nd closest finish in Indy history (0.0635 seconds, 15 feet).
Talk about proving them wrong!
