I don't know your age snow but I did this a few times...in a variey of means.

One was when I wrote a letter to my children concerning my alcoholism and it's contributions to the divorce of their parents...

I spoke of their Father in the third person and though we have all had these conversations many times they will read this letter when I am in another place...

I thought it came out well and allowed a bit of distance for me when writing it...
