I have had bipolar for decades. I wrote up my psych history so I dont have to repeat it all the time. I gave my new pdoc the rundown verbally with a lot of analysis.
He said, "You've been reading." For God's sake. I diagnosed myself years ago.
He is double board certified w neurology, which I like. And he doesnt care when I rant about the medical profession.
However, he tried to get me to take Depakote. I told him it makes everyone fat. LOL I liked my docs in SoCal when we got an hour with them.
