For five years, I had virtually no side effects from Geodon, other than some very initial sedation that completely stopped after a while. It was also weight neutral/friendly. The only issues for me with Geodon is that after the initial sedation stopped, I needed a medication to help a little with my sleep. I probably went a couple years sleeping only 4 to 5 hours per night max. Also, Geodon stopped being sufficient at curbing my mania, after originally being so. I had to have a second antipsychotic added even though I was on moodstabilizers, as well. I took 160 mg Geodon almost the entire time, except during the very initial tapering up.
After five years, Geodon started giving me akathisia. That was quite distressing and eventually led to me being taken off of it. Geodon withdrawal is quite difficult. I had to be weaned off very slowly.
