So, a debt that I paid off 3 years ago was sold to another debt collector, because that 2nd debt collector added this settled debt as an open debt to my credit reports, dinging my credit 50 points!!!!

Furious, I called the previous debt collector and asked for them to email a confirmation letter (again) so that I could send it to the 2nd debt collector who refuses to remove it from my credit report.

I called the second debt collector and they REFUSED to give me an email address (and those assholes are local in my city). So, they gave me a PO box address instead.

After I mailed the confirmation letter, I went online and filed a dispute against this divisive debt collector with all 3 credit reporting agencies.

I'm FURIOUS that this happens. It's PROOF that despite paying off debt, your debt STILL gets sold around to other debt collection agencies who will try to collect the same debt from the person.

Luckily, I kept my financial records and previous credit report printouts so I could access this information to dispute those liars.

Can anyone relate?
